Complementing our successful multicultural camp for girls-a unique program that promotes diversity and empowerment of young women-our inaugural full boys session will be held August 7-13, 2011, after enjoying a great boys pilot session in 2009. As with our established girls program, our carefully considered curriculum and professional, trained counselors will help our campers have a fantastic experience.

At Kupugani, we recognize how summer camp can be a vital part of a child's growth and development, giving healthy opportunities to discover, explore, grow and have fun; the camp experience helps build character and enhance life-development skills, allowing children to connect with nature, themselves and others.

About 90 minutes west of Chicago-in Leaf River, Illinois-our multicultural residential program focuses on diversity and communication skills in a fun atmosphere-uniting campers of varied backgrounds and providing them with empowerment and community-building skills, so that children aged seven to fifteen expand comfort zones and build self-esteem. They enjoy activities like rock climbing, river walking, canoeing, playing under waterfalls, and night hikes under the stars, plus carefully designed group activities and games so that fun and personal growth coincide.

We're confident that boys attending Camp Kupugani will leave camp saying things similar to our pilot boy campers, such as: "At first I wasn't so sure about going to camp. I was wrong though. In FIVE DAYS at that camp, my trust level in people went up and my doubts about myself went away. The camp site was clean, living conditions were great, food was good, and overall it was the highlight of my summer."

Our parents are equally excited about our program. From our 2009 parent survey, 100% of respondents were satisfied with their child's Camp Kupugani experience, and would recommend our camp to friends. Overwhelming majorities of our parents noted their child's improvement in: Acknowledgment & Appreciation of Diversity, Conflict Resolution Skills, Personal Growth / Self Confidence, Positive Self Image, Quality of Relationships with Others, Body Image and Health, and Social Awareness. Specific past parent comments include: "She absolutely loves the camp, the staff, and all the friends she makes there. I consider Kupugani to be a big influence in helping her to grow and expand her mind each summer - it has become an integral part of her summer vacation." "Anyone wanting their [child] to experience a camp situation as it should be, and experience and learn life's experiences taught or shared at a high level of thoughtfulness, should enroll their [child] in the camp. It will be a memory that lives on forever in their minds. I have never come in contact with such a wonderful group of people at a camp before. Everyone did an outstanding job, the camp was so organized, it was unbelievable."  "Everyone...was just so, so personable, kind, and the kind of person I want my [child] looking up to and spending time with!"
